In Europe, the ancient Greeks were probably the first to record knowledge of medicinal herbs in writing. Later, this knowledge, along with medicinal plants from the Mediterranean, found its way to medieval monastery gardens further north.
Today, some of these ancient medicinal plants still have their place in pharmacies and are important ingredients in ointments, juices and tinctures.

This seed set contains 5 traditional medicinal herbs of Central European folk medicine:

  • German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)
An all-round talent among the old, traditional medicinal plants. Chamomile flower tea should always be kept in the cupboard.
  • Common sage (Salvia officinalis)
Traditional spice and medicinal plant with Mediterranean origins. Well suited for seasoning meat and fish and absolutely essential for the perfect 'Saltimbocca'.
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
An important medicinal plant known since ancient times, which has expectorant, digestive, wound-healing, antispasmodic and antibacterial effects.
  • Comfrey (Symphytum officinale)
Root extracts from this ancient medicinal plant are the remedy of choice for bruises, strains and sprains. Comfrey is also a good bee pasture.
